STRUCTURAL INSPECTION

SAFE BUILDING ENGINEERING offers residential and commercial structural inspection services for sellers, buyers, and owners of buildings. Our structural engineers can determine the cause of structural problems in your structure including cracks in foundation walls, sagging floor and roof structures, as well as, assess code compliance of undocumented work performed on the home.

Our structural engineers will perform an onsite structural observation to collect the necessary information to diagnose the problems. We will then issue a report detailing our structural findings and recommendations for repair. If needed, we can assist in the selection of a suitable contractor to perform the repairs. It is strongly recommended that our structural engineers review any repairs completed to building to ensure the work was done in accordance with the repair design.

If you suspect your building has an issue with the structure, then be proactive and contact a structural engineer. Often times, repair costs for structural issues are more economical when found in the initial stages of failure. Additionally, it is important to have a structural engineer review your home prior to any structural modifications or repairs; the building code and permitting authorities require it! A detailed repair plan from an engineer can ensure your home will safely be rehabilitated, and help provide a common basis from which contractors can base their bids.

ADA COMPLIANCE INSPECTION

Making your business accessible to people with disabilities not only serves your customers, but it is the law. By making accessibility changes you can meet federal and state requirements, as well as open up your business to a larger clientele.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) makes it possible for everyone with a disability to live a life of freedom and equality. ADA was the first comprehensive declaration of equality for people with disabilities. Title III includes the adoption of updated ADA 2010 Standards for Accessible Design, prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in the activities of places of public accommodation (businesses that are generally open to the public and that falls into one of 12 categories listed in the ADA, such as restaurants, movie theaters, schools, day care facilities, recreation facilities, and doctors’ offices) and requires newly constructed or altered places of public accommodation—as well as commercial facilities (privately owned, nonresidential facilities such as factories, warehouses, or office buildings)—to comply with the ADA Standards. Since ADA compliance for commercial buildings is key to avoiding lawsuits, fines, and other negative consequences, it’s important for individuals to address potential liability issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. As the owner of a commercial building, making sure that your investment is ADA compliant is your responsibility. And the only way to make sure that you’re adhering to those standards is to get a professional ADA inspection. SAFE BUILDING ENGINEERING can perform a full or partial ADA compliance inspection to see what needs to be changed. If you are found to be in violation of the ADA compliance, our experienced building designers/inspectors can also give you solutions for making your building compliant. And this doesn’t have to involve tearing down your building or closing for renovations. Sometimes the solutions are as simple as repainting the parking lot and changing your booth layout.
